The President will go to Davos

Tomorrow, 23 January, President Dalia Grybauskaitė is leaving for Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos. This forum is an annual global informal top level meeting held for the 49th time which attracts over 3000 political, global business, science and innovation leaders. The topic of this year’s forum is Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Austrian, Irish, Italian, Dutch, Swiss and other state leaders as well as UN Secretary General António Guterres, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde will take part in various debates of the forum.

The President extended condolences over bomb attack in Bogotá

President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended condolences, both personally and on behalf of the Lithuanian people, to President Iván Duque Márquez of Colombia over the bomb attack at a police academy in Bogotá, which resulted in the death of dozens of people and left many injured. In the face of such a brutal and unjustifiable act of violence, the President wished strength and fortitude to the victims’ families and loved ones, speedy recovery to the injured, as well as unity and consolidation to the people of Colombia.
