Free trade with the United States benefits Lithuania
President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with Cecilia Malmström, EU Commissioner for Trade, to discuss the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations between the EU and the United States and the EU’s relations with the Eurasian Economic Union. According to the President, the EU-U.S. free trade agreement, which will strengthen transatlantic relations, is important for Lithuania and the whole of Europe.
The world’s most advanced U.S. fighter jets land in Lithuania
President Dalia Grybauskaitė greeted and took a closer look at the cutting-edge U.S. F-22 Raptor fighter jets which landed at the Lithuanian Air Force Base in Zokniai. The stealthy warplanes have touched down in Lithuania for the first time. This is one of the world’s most advanced military aircraft which is impossible to detect on radar.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė attended the signing ceremony of the agreement on climate change at the UN headquarters in New York. The legally binding agreement was negotiated by representatives of 195 countries at the UN conference in Paris last December and signed by 175 states in New York on Earth Day.

At the end of her state visit to Germany, President Dalia Grybauskaitė visited the Cecilienhof Palace in Potsdam where the Potsdam Conference symbolizing the end of World War II and the beginning of the Cold War took place in 1945.
Germany will help strengthen the security of Lithuania
President Dalia Grybauskaitė, currently on a state visit to Germany, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed relevant bilateral, EU and NATO issues. The meeting placed special emphasis on the threat posed by Russia to the security of Europe and on NATO’s defense and deterrence measures to counter it, as well as on EU actions to tackle the migration crisis in the EU.
