“Unearthed mass burials of the participants of the 1863 uprising discovered almost three years ago on the Gediminas Hill reminded us of painful experiences of our country and many years of struggle against oppression and enslavement. The state funeral that the whole Lithuania is preparing for is a testament to our heroes of the past and patriotic values. Those who completed their earthly journey long ago inspire us with their love for the homeland”, said the President.

The Holy Mass will be followed by the reburial procession to the old Rasos Cemetery accompanied by the sound the bells of Vilnius churches. The bells of all shrines in Warsaw will echo the sound of the church bells in Vilnius.
