Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Lithuania’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom

Wednesday, October 24, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Asta Skaisgirytė-Liauškienė, Lithuanian ambassador to the United Kingdom.

The President stressed that Lithuania and the United Kingdom were successfully developing both the bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation in international organizations.

According to the President, active economic ties with the United Kingdom are important for Lithuania. The increasing export to the UK in recent years has contributed to our country's economic growth. The United Kingdom is the 5th largest export partner of Lithuania. It is necessary to also promote reciprocal investments, making full use of broad possibilities in this sphere, the President said.

Dalia Grybauskaitė underscored the role of the Lithuanian community in furthering the bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of economy and culture.

Asta Skaisgirytė - Liauškienė in the course of her career worked in the sphere of mass media, in the Supreme Council (Reconstituent Seimas) of the Republic of Lithuania, the Government, various divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The diplomat also was Lithuania's ambassador to France, Israel and Tunisia. Since 2009, Asta Skaisgirytė - Liauškienė has been Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs.
