Thursday, February 14, Vilnius – On February 21-22, President Dalia Grybauskaitė will go on a state visit to Poland where she will meet with the leaders of Poland: President Andrzej Duda, Marshal of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński, Marshal of the Senate Stanislaw Karczewski, and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
The President, together with Polish and Ukrainian leaders, will also travel to Lublin to visit the headquarters of LITPOLUKRBRIG, a multinational brigade consisting of units from the Lithuanian, Polish and Ukrainian armies, named after a Grand Hetman Konstanty Ostrogski of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
The President’s visit will consolidate at the highest level the results achieved through bilateral relations. Lithuania and Poland have been building and strengthening their relationship based on friendship, mutual understanding and shared geopolitical objectives over the recent decade.
The bilateral meeting of presidents will focus mainly on strengthening strategic partnership and cooperation in security and defense. Both countries have to deal with the threats rising from the East. Lithuania and Poland not only share a common history and traditional historical ties, but also mutual objectives to ensure national and regional security.

EU political issues and the implementation of joint infrastructure projects will be discussed in Warsaw. Lithuania and Poland are implementing a joint European Rail Baltica project and transnational highway projects Via Baltica and Via Carpatia.
Energy cooperation and integration into the common European market is yet another shared interest of the two countries. Synchronization of power grids and construction of gas interconnections with Poland (GIPL) are strategically important for ensuring energy security in the region as well as in the EU.
On the second day of the visit, the President will travel to Lublin. The visit coincides with the 450th anniversary of the Union of Lublin, which formed the basis for the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.
