Monday, 19 June, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė received letters of credence from Ambassador Toumani Djimé Diallo of the Republic of Mali and discussed bilateral relations as well as cooperation with the European Union in the areas of trade and migration.
According to the President, Lithuania’s and Mali’s bilateral relations are getting stronger as Lithuania contributes to the UN peace-keeping mission in Mali and plans to send more peace-keepers as well as implement a development cooperation project in agriculture soon.
The President and the newly appointed Ambassador also discussed the strengthening of academic and cultural exchanges between Lithuania and Mali.
Toumani Djimé Diallo is the second Ambassador of Mali to Lithuania. The diplomat served as Ambassador to Morocco and headed the cabinet of Mali’s President. Since 2015, he is Ambassador of Mali to Germany residing in Berlin.
