Thursday, July 13, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Audra Plepytė, Lithuanian Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
The President and the Ambassador discussed preparations for the UN General Assembly scheduled for the coming autumn: the role of women world leaders and global fight against violence. The meeting also focused on making the United Nations more effective, improving Lithuania’s standing and sending Lithuanian servicemen to UN peace keeping operations.
Audra Plepytė headed the European Union Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Earlier, she was Lithuania’s ambassador to Spain. She also worked at the Permanent Representation to the European Union and as Deputy Head of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
