Wednesday, September 13, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Jonas Paslauskas, Lithuanian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway. The President discussed bilateral relations, cooperation at the international organizations, security, energy, economic relations, matters related to Lithuanian diaspora in Norway and other topical issues.
According to the President, Norway is an important partner of Lithuania in the energy sector. Further work in ensuring diversified gas supply and Norway’s affiliation to NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence in Vilnius were discussed at the meeting. According to the President, it is also necessary to enhance the dynamics of bilateral economic relations, deepen cooperation in high value added sectors and raise awareness about Lithuania while attracting more tourists from Norway.
Jonas Paslauskas began his career at the ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991. He headed Protocol Division and was Director of Latin America, Africa, Asia and Pacific Department. Recently, he has served as Ambassador-at-Large for Eastern Partnership. Jonas Paslauskas was a Foreign policy advisor to Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, worked at the embassies in the U.S., Canada, Belarus, Georgia and at the consulate in New York. The diplomat has philological education and speaks English, Russian and Polish languages.
