Tuesday, October 3, Vilnius ‒ President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany on Unity Day.
According to the President, the anniversary of German reunification is marked across the whole of Europe, and Lithuanians too celebrate it together with their German friends, partners and allies.
“The reunification of Germany 27 years ago was a step of major importance to many European nations, including Lithuania, on their path towards freedom and independence, which fostered dialogue, continental growth, prosperity, and solidarity,” the President wrote in her message of congratulations.
Dalia Grybauskaitė underlined that Lithuania highly valued Germany's contribution to the security of our region and was ready to share responsibility with its German allies and partners in addressing the European and continental agenda.
The President expressed her strong hope that Germany would always reamin the most important and closest economic, political and security partner of Lithuania in Europe, with wide-ranging bilateral ties and contacts developing fast in culture, science and across many other areas.
Dalia Grybauskaitė sent her best wishes to the people of Germany for their continued happiness, success, concord, and security, as well as for a very happy celebration.
