Friday, May 3, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations on behalf of the people of Lithuania to President Andrzej Duda of Poland on Constitution Day.
In her message of congratulations the President said that as we marked the Day of the Constitution adopted on May 3, 1791, we remembered the democratic principles established by this political document which remained relevant today. In the face of different regional and global challenges we were prepared to counter them united and defend the ideals of independence and civil freedoms that our ancestors had been fighting for together.
According to the President, it was very important to remember the connection between Lithuania and Poland and shared historic and value-based unity that was reflected in the cooperation agreement between Lithuania and Poland.
We marked the 25th anniversary of this important agreement last week. According to the President, it was our shared commitment to foster relations and defend the interests of our citizens together as well as overcome all the challenges and cherish independence.
The President wished the President and people of Poland continued success, concord, and prosperity.
