Thursday, May 9, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė congratulated President Reuven Rivlin of Israel on behalf of the Lithuanian people on the occasion of Yom Haatzmaut as Israel marked the 71st anniversary of independence.
In her message of congratulations, the President said that Israel was an important and close country to Lithuania. Our countries had not only strong historic and human connections but also enjoyed active cooperation in many relevant areas. Growing bilateral relations between Lithuania and Israel as well as collaboration in the framework of relations with the European Union were highly valued.
The President expressed belief that relations between the countries developed with mutual respect and trust and continuously fostered dialogue among people would contribute to new future opportunities for citizens, and even more dynamic cooperation in business, innovation, science, education, tourism, culture, as well as economic growth, overall welfare, and security of the states.
The President wished the state of Israel and its people continued peace, unity, and prosperity.
