Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Lithuania’s ambassador to the Netherlands


Monday, July 10, Vilnius  President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Vidmantas Purlys, Lithuanian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. 

During their meeting, the President and the newly appointed ambassador discussed the development of relations between Lithuania and the Netherlands across political, economic and energy areas as well as cooperation within the European Union and NATO. The Netherlands actively contributes to ensuring the security of Lithuania and the region with Dutch troops serving in NATO’s enhanced forward presence battalion deployed to our country. 

The President pointed out that the Netherlands was Lithuania’s seventh trading partner. 

Dalia Grybauskaitė wished the Ambassador success in performing his responsible duties and working for the benefit of Lithuania. 

Earlier, Vidmantas Purlys had worked at the Lithuanian Embassy in Brussels and served as ambassador to Ireland. Before this appointment, he was Director of the European Countries Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
