On Saturday, two members of the French delegation who accompanied President Emmanuel Macron during his visit to Lithuania have been tested positive for COVID-19. In accordance with the recommendations issued by the National Public Health Center, persons who were in contact with those already infected have been requested to isolate themselves. They will be tested for possible coronavirus infection.
Specialists do not recommend President Gitanas Nausėda and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė to self- isolate, but they will be preventively tested.
At the present moment, five staff members at the President’s Office were told to isolate themselves. The National Public Health Center is tracing those who had contacts with the infected persons. All individuals who participated in the visit-related events are informed about the potential risk in person. Specialists from the National Public Health Center provide them with the necessary information about the required safety measures.
The visit of the President of France to Lithuania was strictly in compliance with the safety requirements and recommendations. The same applies to all events held at the Presidential Palace. Staff members are provided with personal protection equipment. They keep to safe distancing when communicating with visitors. All premises are properly ventilated and disinfected. The Presidential Palace will be disinfected on Sunday.
