On Tuesday, President Gitanas Nausėda is leaving for Malmö, Sweden, to attend the International Forum on Holocaust Remembrance and Combating Antisemitism.
On Wednesday, 13 October, the President will participate in the Forum's plenary session and speak at a break-out session on protecting memory and fighting distortion.
"We still deeply feel the loss of our fellow Lithuanian Jewish citizens. We must ensure that future generations remember and reflect on the painful lessons of the Holocaust. Realizing that the nightmares of the past cannot be repeated, we must fight all attempts to distort history and incite hatred," the President said on the eve of his visit.
The Malmö International Forum on Holocaust Remembrance and Combating Antisemitism, hosted by Sweden, will be attended by representatives of many countries and non-governmental organizations, including President of the European Council Charles Michel, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, President of Latvia Egils Levits, President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, and President of Finland Sauli Niinistö.
Countries, including Lithuania, will present specific pledges at the Forum to preserve and promote Holocaust remembrance and to combat antisemitism.
In the evening of October 13, the President will meet with the Lithuanian Danish community in Copenhagen, Denmark.
