Monday, November 25, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from the Ambassador of Slovenia, Tone Kajzer.
The President and the Ambassador discussed successful bilateral relations between Lithuania and Slovenia, Lithuania's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and positive tendencies in bilateral economic cooperation. Exports to Slovenia have more than doubled and imports soared 27 percent since the first half of 2012.
"Lithuania thanks Slovenia for its support during the Lithuanian EU Presidency. Slovenia's presiding over the EU Council in 2008 was a good example to our country. Highest-level representation of the countries is expected at the Vilnius Summit this week, so we are waiting for Slovenia's representatives," the President said.
Lithuania and Slovenia are bound by close historic ties. They were among the first to recognize each other's independence.
The Ambassador, born 1966, is married, has two daughters. He resides in Denmark. He completed studies in geodesy and construction, economy and international relations. Tone Kajzer speaks English, French, German and Serbian.
