The President congratulated France on Bastille Day

Sunday, July 14, Vilnius – President Gitanas Nausėda offered congratulations on behalf of the people of Lithuania to President Emmanuel Macron and the French people on Bastille Day.

As France celebrates the 230th anniversary of Storming of the Bastille, the President wished for continued concord, success, and prosperity of the French people. President Gitanas Nausėda expressed delight in comprehensive dialogue, friendship and cooperation between Lithuania and France in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization that has intensified over the recent years. The President highlighted the shared position of Lithuania and France as well as a responsible attitude towards European unity and solidarity among states, especially in the areas of security and defense. He also thanked the French President for the contribution of France to ensuring the Alliance’s readiness to defend itself.

Taking the opportunity, President Nausėda invited the French President and his wife for an official visit to Lithuania.

“I have no doubts that your visit to Lithuania would be highly valuable in drawing up the guidelines for further cooperation between Lithuania and France on bilateral level as well as on the level of the European and transatlantic community. That would be an important sign for the young generation of Europeans who are determined to work responsibly for their continent,” said the President in his message of congratulations.
