Friday, December 10, Rome - Following the official visit to Vatican City, President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė met with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
During their working meeting, the President of Lithuania and the Prime Minister of Italy discussed the European Union's policy issues and preparations for the upcoming meeting of the European Council. As noted by the President, Lithuania and Italy hold the same views on the most relevant issues related to the EU development.
Other issues covered at the meeting included energy concerns, elimination of energy isolation, possibilities for Italian companies to participate in the development of the Lithuanian nuclear power plant project. According to the President, Italian experience would be very valuable for Lithuania in the area of constructing a terminal for liquefied gas and developing alternative sources of energy.
