Friday, 20 September, Vilnius – President Gitanas Nausėda and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė will travel to the US to attend the United Nations General Assembly on September 22-26.
The President will attend the opening session of the 74th UN General Assembly and will make his first address to an international audience. A meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres is also scheduled.
During the visit to New York, the President will pay special attention to the business community. New York agenda includes a visit to Nasdaq headquarters, where the President will meet with CEO Adena Friedman, as well as attend one of the largest events on global economy – Bloomberg Business Forum. At the forum, the President will see leaders of multinational companies and discuss development opportunities in Lithuania.
The President will also attend the global social policy leaders’ forum – Concordia Annual Summit and deliver a speech on the Welfare State in the Digital Age.
On September 24, the President and the First Lady will attend a celebratory reception hosted by President Donald Trump for heads of state and government. A meeting with the Lithuanian community in New York is also planned.
A separate cultural program is planned for the First Lady. Diana Nausėdienė will attend the Bilingual and Bicultural School to discuss the challenges of social exclusion and integration. She will also visit the studio of Lithuanian-born jeweler Alex Šepkus and meet with public activist Jūratė Kazickas at the headquarters of the Family Foundation.
