President Gitanas Nausėda met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. At the multilateral meeting attended by the Presidents of Latvia and Estonia and the Prime Minister of Estonia, cooperation between the Baltic region and Turkey as well as security issues were discussed.
Approval of NATO defense plans was one of the most pressing issues for Lithuania that was resolved during this meeting.
“Today we took an important step: during the meeting we agreed that NATO defense plan for the Baltic States and Poland would be approved. It is a huge achievement not only for our country but for the entire region since it ensures the security of our citizens. We also met with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey, and exchanged views on how important the unity of the Alliance and maintaining it was", said the President.
