Monday, June 30, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from Ambassador Aydan Yamancan of Turkey.
During their meeting, the President and the Ambassador discussed the intensifying bilateral relations between Lithuania and Turkey, prospects of economic cooperation, and Turkey's European integration.
The President noted that Lithuania strongly supported Turkey's EU integration aspirations. Lithuania stands ready to share its experience and cooperate with Turkish governmental authorities via the EU Twinning Projects, she said.
According to the President, to develop bilateral relations it is necessary to enhance economic cooperation, increase trade volumes and promote mutual investments.
The Ambassador, born 1965, is married and has a daughter. In 1988 she graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Science, and started working in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the course of her diplomatic career, Aydan Yamancan served in Turkish Embassies in Warsaw, Prague, Tel Aviv, Germany, was Minister Plenipotentiary, Deputy Director of the Department for Central Europe.
