Thursday, April 25, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė received credentials from Ambassador Oumou Sall Seck of Mali.
The President and the Ambassador discussed growing bilateral dialogue between Lithuania and Mali, economic ties, the security situation in the region, cooperation between the European Union and Mali on migration and development, as well as other relevant issues.
In cooperation with the international community, Lithuania contributes to missions in Mali aimed at ensuring security and enhancing the readiness of Mali‘s armed forces to counter terrorism and other threats. 39 Lithuanian soldiers take part in a peacekeeping mission in Mali.
It is the third Ambassador of Mali to Lithuania. The diplomat has a legal background. In 2004, she was elected as the first female mayor of Goudam city, later held different positions in the home policy sector. In 2017, she was appointed as the Ambassador to Germany, residing in Berlin.
