Tuesday, December 14, Vilnius - President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Lina Antanavičienė as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the People's Republic of China.
The President and the new Ambassador talked about the work of the Lithuanian Embassy in China and discussed the tasks for the Ambassador, the most important of which is to foster economic relations, with particular emphasis on transport, and to promote export of Lithuanian goods to China.
The 42-year-old Ambassador with a background in economics started her diplomatic career in 1991. In 1996-1999, L. Antanavičienė worked at the Lithuanian Embassy in Norway. On return to Lithuania, she was assigned to the Regional Economic Analysis Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and led this Division from 2000. For four years since 2005, she held the position of a deputy director of the Economics Department, the Latin America, Africa, Asia and Pacific Department, and the Global Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Before appointment to Beijing, L. Antanavičienė headed the Latin America, Africa, Asia and Pacific Department.
Lina Antanavičienė, who holds the rank of an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary, is the fourth ambassador of Lithuania to China since the establishment of the Lithuanian Embassy in Beijing in 1995.
