President Gitanas Nausėda presented letters of credence to Lithuania’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Ramūnas Misiulis.
The President and the newly appointed Ambassador discussed economic and cultural relations as well as cooperation in defence and security between both countries. Gitanas Nausėda stressed the need for Lithuania and Germany to continue close cooperation on regional defence and maintain Germany’s leadership of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence battalion deployed in Lithuania as well as Germany’s participation in the NATO Air Policing mission in the Baltic States.
In the meeting with the diplomat, close bilateral economic relations were discussed as Germany is Lithuania’s second largest trading partner and the fourth in foreign direct investment.
The President wished the Ambassador a lot of strength and wisdom in representing Lithuania and promoting it‘s name.
Ambassador Misiulis has a degree in international relations and worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1997. He speaks German, English, and Russian.
