Friday, November 19, Vilnius - President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė is attending a two-day NATO Summit that started in the capital of Portugal today, where Heads of State are set to approve NATO's new Strategic Concept.
President Dalia Grybauskaitė says the new Strategic Concept will give a "new face" to the Alliance, making it more effective, stronger and better prepared to counter modern challenges.
"This Summit is very important for Lithuania. The principles laid down in NATO's new Strategic Concept will provide real security guarantees backed by concrete defence plans for Lithuania for many years ahead. I am happy that thanks to Lithuania's resolute efforts, people of all of the three Baltic countries will enjoy higher security," President Dalia Grybauskaitė said.
Other issues to be discussed at the Summit include NATO transformation and optimisation and cooperation with other countries. Also, NATO-Russia Council Summit will take place in Lisbon.
