Sunday, September 1, Warsaw – During his visit to Poland, President Gitanas Nausėda met with the Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel.
The meeting focused on the EU’s strategic agenda and extensive cooperation in the areas of economy, financial services and renewable energy.
“I informed the Prime Minister of Luxembourg about Lithuania’s priorities on the EU agenda and particularly focused on Lithuania’s points of interest in the next Community budget, energy security, the safety of the Ostrovets nuclear power plant, and cooperation opportunities in financial innovation and sustainable economic growth,” the President said.
Gitanas Nausėda thanked Luxembourg for solidarity and collaboration in strengthening the Baltic security and for deploying troops in NATO forces stationed in Lithuania. The President and the Prime Minister later discussed the agenda of the forthcoming NATO summit in London.
Both leaders expressed their confidence that cultural ties between Lithuania and Luxembourg would become stronger and new beneficial contacts would be established when Kaunas and Esch-sur-Alzette become the European Capitals of Culture 2022. “I invite Luxembourgers to come to Lithuania, meet our people, find out more about our artists and culture,” the President added.
