Thursday, August 22, Vilnius – President Gitanas Nausėda met with Moldova’s Prime Minister Maia Sandu. Major bilateral cooperation issues, implementation of European reforms in Moldova and regional security issues were discussed at the meeting.
The President and the Prime Minister also discussed Lithuania’s expert and development cooperation support to Moldova. The President expressed delight at active interinstitutional collaboration and highlighted that Lithuanian experts from various fields are prepared to contribute to the implementation of key reforms and consolidate comprehensive support to Moldova. From 2006 through 2018, Lithuania funded the implementation of 129 projects in Moldova.
The President expressed hope that the new ruling coalition would remain committed to the European integration and continue implementing reforms that would contribute to the welfare of people of Moldova. According to the President, Lithuania will continue to support Moldova’s European integration aspirations and is prepared to back Moldova on its way of reforms.
When addressing the bilateral cooperation, the President emphasized the importance of more active economic ties and bilateral trade. Food processing, engineering, financial and information technologies could be the priority sectors of mutual interest.
