Thursday, July 26, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė is going to 2012 Summer Olympic Games. The President will attend an opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London, watch Giedrius Titenis' swimming in 100 m qualification competition and - together with Lithuanian basketball fans - a men's basketball game between Lithuania and Argentina at the Olympic Basketball Tournament.
"Olympiad is every athlete's goal. By participating in the Olympic Games and fulfilling their dreams our athletes also realize the dream of the entire Lithuania. Hard work, perseverance and, most importantly, striving for victory unite our country and make all Lithuanians worldwide live at an Olympic pace. This is an inspiring moment we wait for four years," the President said.
During her visit in London, the President will also go to the Olympic Village where she will meet with representatives of our country's Olympic delegation to hand over a symbolic Olympic torch brought from Lithuania, and will participate in a reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by Queen Elizabeth II.
