President Gitanas Nausėda extended congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II on Her Majesty’s Official Birthday and wished her good health as well as consolidation and continued well-being to the people of the United Kingdom.
The President pointed out that this year marked thirty years of reestablished diplomatic relations between Lithuania and the United Kingdom. He underlined that the two countries enjoyed excellent bilateral ties and successful cooperation in international organizations in addressing urgent issues on the global agenda.
“We greatly appreciate the United Kingdom’s significant contribution to the security of the Baltic States’ region and the entire NATO,” the President wrote in his message of congratulations.
Gitanas Nausėda pointed out that cooperation between Lithuania and the United Kingdom – based on common democratic values – was further enriched by the bonds of long-standing friendship maintained by the people. He expressed strong hope that after containing the effects of the pandemic, increasingly more opportunities would open for expanding people-to-people contacts.
