The President extended condolences on the passing of Margaret Thatcher

Monday, April 8, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended condolences, both personally and on behalf of the Lithuanian people, to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II over the death of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. 

"Margaret Thatcher will always be remembered as a wise and demanding politician with a strong feeling of high responsibility. Her leadership changed the United Kingdom and the world. Eleven years of her dynamic premiership helped reform the country and opened a new chapter of Euro-Atlantic cooperation. Her focus on democratic values was immensely important to Lithuania as it embarked on the path to reestablishing independence," the President wrote in her message of condolences. 

The President offered her sincere sympathy to Margaret Thatcher's family, friends and to the British people.
