President Gitanas Nausėda met with President Egils Levits of Latvia, President Kersti Kaljulaid of Estonia and President Adrzej Duda of Poland on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting focused on regional and global security issues and assessed the recent military exercise Zapad. Leaders agreed to closely watch the situation in the non-democratic neighborhood and the process of military integration between Belarus and Russia.
Speaking about the hybrid attack launched by Belarus, Gitanas Nausėda thanked the Presidents of neighboring countries for showing solidarity regarding Lithuania’s request to deploy a NATO counter-hybrid support team.
Leaders also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and new partnerships for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
Yesterday, the President also met with President Maia Sandu of Moldova. During their meeting, Gitanas Nausėda emphasized the importance of using all opportunities to implement reforms and to anchor Moldova’s eurointegration efforts.
