President Gitanas Nausėda extended congratulations to the Holy Father on the seventh anniversary of his election as Pope and wished for spiritual strength, continued health and fortitude as he inspired each and every individual to seek reconciliation, love, compassion, and mercy and encourage all nations to work for peace and dialogue.
“During your apostolic visit to Lithuania, you wished her to be a beacon of hope. These words have evolved in meaning over time. After thirty years of regained independence, we can proudly say that we have learned how to build life in a free country. Today, however, we must also deal with new challenges that require us to have hope, patience, and encouragement. We strive to create a welfare state in Lithuania. Therefore, I strongly hope that the Assisi meeting on new economic issues will help to make decisions that are beneficial to every individual and will encourage world leaders to focus on making the economy fair and inclusive,” said the President in the message of congratulations.
The President highlighted that he strongly supported the endeavors of the Pope to maintain peace in the world and wished him patience and strong personal support from the people and politicians who represent them.
