The President congratulated the Jewish community in Lithuania and around the world on the Jewish New Year celebration Rosh Hashanah.
The President wished all the Israeli people for endurance, strength, and good health in the fight against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and its consequences, and the Jews of Lithuania and all over the world, beautiful and sweet holidays, as well as continued success and prosperity. “We live in a challenging time, but holidays always shift focus on fundamental values and help us leave all the worries behind. Today, it is important to remember the power of sharing kindness, support, and unity. I wish you a successful and peaceful year 5781 full of prosperity, reconciliation, and welfare”, the President said.
The President added that it was important that 2020 has been designated as the year of Vilna Gaon and the year of history of Lithuanian Jews: “despite the outbreak of the pandemic, the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Vilna Gaon was duly commemorated, appreciating his influence on the development of Judaism and the undeniable contribution of the Jewish community in promoting the name of Lithuania around the world.”
