Sunday, September 29, Vilnius − President Gitanas Nausėda congratulated the Lithuanian and European Jewish communities, the people of Israel and each and everyone around the globe celebrating the Jewish New Year − Rosh Hashanah.
“I extend my greetings from Vilnius – a city that has a special meaning for the world Jewish community. Known as Jerusalem of the North, Vilnius is very proud to have been the spiritual center of Judaism and home to many eminent Jewish scholars, thinkers and cultural figures. It is great that 2020 has been designated the year of the Vilna Gaon and the Lithuanian Jewish Year”, said the President in the message of congratulations.
The President expressed delight over the Lithuanian Jewish community which is an invaluable asset to Lithuania. The President wished all the Jews around the world health and peace, success and wellbeing.
