President Gitanas Nausėda offered congratulations to President Miloš Zeman and all the people of the Czech Republic on national day and wished continued health, success and prosperity.
The President highlighted that the Czech Republic was Lithuania’s reliable ally in NATO and consistently contributed to the security of the entire Baltic region by participating in air policing missions and deploying troops to Lithuania-based enhanced forward presence force battalion.
“Our countries enjoy excellent bilateral relations and cooperation based on mutual respect and understanding in the framework of the European Union and other international organizations. I believe that we should work towards a more united and stronger Europe, because only together can we successfully tackle global challenges, including the global COVID-19 pandemic”, the President said in the message of congratulations.
According to the President, the Lithuanian and the Czech people remembered perfectly well their freedom struggles and restored independence three decades ago. Today, therefore, we had to ensure that respect for the principles of freedom and democracy was enshrined in our neighborhood. The President expressed hope that the sincere friendship of Lithuanian and Czech people and the development of economic and cultural ties would further strengthen bilateral relations between Lithuania and the Czech Republic.
