On behalf of the Lithuanian people and on his own behalf, President Gitanas Nausėda extended congratulations to President Milo Đukanović of Montenegro on Montenegro’s national holiday, Statehood Day.
The President highlighted that bilateral contacts between Lithuania and Montenegro were expanding and growing stronger and was happy to note that this year marked the 15th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
According to the President, Lithuania and Montenegro are close allies and like-minded countries that share understanding of threats and challenges to security. Lithuania highly values the cooperation with Montenegro in NATO and the significant contribution of the Montenegro’s troops to ensuring security of the Baltic region in NATO’s forwards presence battlegroup deployed in our region.
“Lithuania consistently supports Montenegro’s aspirations to join the family of European Union nations. I am very glad to see Montenegro’s progress in implementing European reforms and setting an excellent example of eurointegration to other Western Balkan countries, “ the President wrote in his message of congratulations.
On Montenegro’s Statehood Day, President Nausėda sent his wishes for peace and prosperity.
