President Gitanas Nausėda extended congratulations to President Milo Đukanović of Montenegro on Statehood Day, wishing his country and its people continued good health, unity and prosperity.
“Next year will mark the 15th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Montenegro. During our meeting in Vilnius this past March, we expressed delight at the consistent development of bilateral relations between Lithuania and Montenegro and we had an excellent opportunity to discuss urgent international policy issues,” the President wrote in his message of congratulations.
Gitanas Nausėda underlined that Montenegro was a committed partner of Lithuania in NATO, which actively participated in security and defense projects, contributing to the security of the Baltic States through the deployment of its troops to NATO’s forward presence battlegroup in Latvia.
“I highly commend Montenegro for promoting western values, making progress in the implementation of EU reforms and demonstrating an excellent example of European integration to other Western Balkan countries. Lithuania stands ready to continue supporting Montenegro’s aspirations for EU membership and to share its experience in delivering successful and effective reforms on the path of European integration,” the President stated in his message.
