President Gitanas Nausėda extended congratulations to President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany and to all the people of his country on the thirty first anniversary of German Unity Day.
In his message of congratulations, the President underscored that Lithuania and Germany marked the thirtieth anniversary of their restored diplomatic relations this year. “For me, it was a great pleasure to be on a visit to Germany at your invitation to mark this anniversary together. I would like to take this opportunity and thank you for the warm welcome and open discussion on issues of interest to our countries,” the President wrote recalling his visit in September this year.
President Nausėda also stressed that this important and meaningful anniversary opened up new opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education, and science and had a weighty contribution on the deepening of amicable people-to-people ties of both countries.
According to the President, Lithuania and Germany are linked not only by close bilateral cooperation, but also by a strong partnership in the international organizations: “Respect for European values and coinciding approach on the future of Europe and key matters on the international agenda lead to successful cooperation in the EU, NATO, and international organizations.”
