President Gitanas Nausėda extended congratulations to President Emmanuel Macron of France and the French people as they celebrate Bastille Day.
According to the President, the official visit of the French leader to Lithuania last year symbolizes a strong bond and partnership between France and Lithuania in protecting democratic values, addressing global challenges and creating the well-being of nations.
“France is an important ally of Lithuania in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Your soldiers have been repeatedly deployed to the NATO forward presence battlegroup in Lithuania, participated in NATO’s Air Policing mission and exercises in the Baltic States. France has also joined the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence in Lithuania. All of this is a significant contribution to ensuring the security not only of the Baltic region, but also of the whole of Europe,” the President wrote in his message of congratulations.
The President underscored the importance of European solidarity in responding to Russia’s aggressive policies and actions of the Belarusian regime. He expressed hope that during next year's French Presidency of the European Union, an ambitious agenda to strengthen Europe's geopolitical stand would make Europe increasingly more resilient, secure and competitive, and reinforce its role in the Eastern Partnership countries.
The President wished France long years of prosperity as well as continued good health and well-being for all its people.
