The President expressed hope that by working together the countries would overcome the consequences of the pandemic and would be prepared for potential challenges in the future.
“I warmly recall our meeting in Vilnius, last November. I am delighted with the intensifying bilateral relations between Lithuania and Canada, as well as our successful cooperation in NATO. I highly appreciate the fact that our countries are like-minded partners that defend their values in the complex circumstances of the global world. I am extremely grateful for Canada’s contribution to strengthening security of the Baltic States. Canada’s determination to lead the Enhanced Forward Presence Battalion in one of the Baltic States is a crucial factor of security and deterrence throughout the region. We highly value Canada’s attention to Europe’s Eastern neighborhood. We are determined to continue working together by holding a Ukrainian reform conference in Lithuania, in 2021”, the President said in the message of congratulations.
According to the President, Lithuania has always been and will continue to be a supporter of a strong and irreplaceable transatlantic link and Canada was a very important part of this strategic link. Lithuania is prepared to contribute to the strengthening of relations between the European Union and Canada in order to fully exploit the potential and opportunities this partnership provided.
The President wished all the people of Canada strong health as well as continued unity and success.
