Thursday, April 29, Vilnius - "Large and harmonious families are the future of our State, they are our hope. Promotion of respect by the general public for large families and creation of a family-friendly environment is among the most important tasks requiring particular focus from the Government, local authorities, employers, and communities," President Dalia Grybauskaitė said presenting awards "For Merits to Lithuania" on the eve of the Mother's Day to 43 mothers with more than seven children.
According to the President, Lithuanian mothers totally dedicated to their children are worth the highest respect and appreciation, and not only moral.
Among the mothers awarded were mothers having attained the honourable age of a hundred years and younger mothers, who are passing over a mother's love, the most beautiful family traditions, and cultural values from generation to generation. These values, according to the President, must be cherished and instilled in the young generation, the creator of the future of Lithuania.
The President thanked the mothers for dedication and patience and for educating their children to be good persons and citizens respecting their parents, loving their Motherland, and feeling for other people. President Dalia Grybauskaitė wished that all mothers be always surrounded by their children's laughter, love, and gratitude.
