Wednesday, January 20, Vilnius - In the meeting with U.S. Ambassador Anne Elizabeth Derse, President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė expressed support for continued close bilateral relations between Lithuania and the U.S. and for their cooperation within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
"The United States is a very important partner for us. Lithuania will develop its cooperation with the U.S. on all issues of importance," President Dalia Grybauskaitė underlined in the meeting.
The President and the U.S. Ambassador discussed the agenda of Lithuanian-U.S. cooperation for the current year, also issues of bilateral and international policies.
The U.S. Ambassador informed the President about planned visits by U.S. high-level officials to Lithuania to discuss such issues as defence, joint projects in Afghanistan, energy, promotion of gender equality around the globe, and others.
