President of Ukraine is grateful for Lithuania‘s continuous support

President Gitanas Nausėda received a letter from President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine expressing gratitude for Lithuania‘s continuous support to Ukraine and its the people.

In his letter, the Ukrainian President thanked Lithuania and President Gitanas Nausėda for the rehabilitation of Ukrainian troops in Lithuania, financial support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces formed in accordance with NATO standards and humanitarian assistance to people in the war-torn regions of Ukraine.

According to the President of Ukraine, the concert Together until We Win held to support Ukraine for the fourth year in a row on the Freedom Defenders’ Day is another important example of Lithuania’s support for Ukraine. During the concert on January 13, attended by President Gitanas Nausėda, the Lithuanian people donated almost 123 thousand euros to the people of Ukraine. Another 9.1 thousand euros were donated on the Blue Yellow website.

Freedom Defenders’ Day became an important symbol of the Lithuanian struggle for freedom and an inspiration for Ukraine and its people in defense of their country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against the foreign aggressor.

This year the President also awarded commemorative medals of January 13 to eleven Ukrainian citizens who actively defended the freedom and independence of Lithuania, preserved peace and health of the Lithuanian people through January-September 1991. Some of them participated in the defense of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania and other important state buildings.

In his letter, the Ukrainian President stressed his hope that the strategic partnership between Lithuania and Ukraine would only be strengthened and develop based on the principles of mutual respect. On behalf of his people the President of Ukraine wished Lithuania and its people continued concord, peace and prosperity.
