On Thursday, President Gitanas Nausėda and Polish President Andrzej Duda held a phone call to discuss the situation on Polish and Lithuanian borders with Belarus.
The Lithuanian and Polish leaders shared information on the ongoing hybrid attack orchestrated by the Belarusian regime, which includes the artificially created humanitarian crisis on the external border of the European Union. The Presidents expressed mutual support and complete unity in the face of this common challenge.
“The actions of the European Commission and the European External Action Service are timely in tackling the migrant crisis created by the Lukashenko regime as part of the hybrid attack on the European Union. These migrants have become hostages of the regime. We can see the first results: flights from the Middle East organized by the regime are being suspended and migrants who are in the Belarusian territory are returning home,” the President said.
The Lithuanian and Polish leaders agreed to keep in contact by regularly exchanging information on the situation and coordinating actions.
