Wednesday, October 3, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Raimonda Murmokaitė, Lithuanian Ambassador to the United Nations.
The President underlined that it is very important to duly defend Lithuania's national interests at the United Nations and to look for new avenues of cooperation in energy security and gender equality - the spheres important for our country.
According to the President, Lithuania during its Presidency of the European Union Council in 2013 will have a responsible task to represent the EU's common position in the United Nations with due consideration to the priorities of our country.
The diplomat who speaks English, Italian, French and Russian in the course of her career served in various divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as in Lithuania's diplomatic missions to the United Nations and Italy. The Ambassador is awarded with the state decoration of the Republic of Lithuania - the Cross of the Knight of the Order for Merits to Lithuania.
