Wednesday, May 27, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Skaistė Aniulienė, Lithuanian ambassador to Spain.
According to the President, Lithuania and Spain are close partners in the European Union sharing common interests, including in the sphere of energy. Energy links with continental Europe are highly important for both countries.
The President noted that it was necessary to develop bilateral cooperation in promoting regional security. Spain with its fighter jets actively participates in the air policing mission in the Baltics.
The President called on the new Ambassador to present Lithuania in various regions of Spain, promote Lithuanian exports to Spain, and advance tourist flows to Lithuania. Last year, the trade turnover between Lithuania and Spain grew by 12.5 percent.
Skaistė Aniulienė began her career in 1991. She held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, served in Lithuanian embassies in Denmark and the United Kingdom, was Lithuania’s consul general in Chicago. Before her appointment as ambassador to Spain, she was Ambassador-at-Large for the Community of Democracies and women’s issues. The diplomat is a graduate of Vilnius University.
