Wednesday, November 28, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to the President of the Republic of Albania, Bujar Nishani, on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of Albania's Independence.
"I am delighted that this very special celebration for Albania coincides with the twentieth anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. Ever since 1991-1992, our nations have been working to strengthen bilateral political, economic and cultural relations. Cooperation and dialogue started to develop especially fast in 2000, when together with seven other countries we established the Vilnius group to enhance collaboration among NATO aspirant states.
In 2004 Lithuania attained this goal, which was also successfully realized by Albania some years later. Today we can be proud that we are active members of an alliance which is vitally important for the security and stability of the entire Euro-Atlantic area and beyond. We should build on the experience we have gained to make the dialogue and cooperation between our nations even stronger across the whole platform," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.
Dalia Grybauskaitė wished the President and the people of Albania continued happiness and success as well as long years of peace, concord and prosperity to their country.
