The President of Ethiopia, Mrs. Sahle-Work Zewde, and the President of Georgia, Mrs. Salome Zourabichvili, responded to the invitation of the President of the Republic of Lithuania and the Chair of the Council of Women World Leaders, Dalia Grybauskaitė, to join the Council.
President Sahle-Work Zewde and President Salome Zourabichvili are the first female heads of state in their respective countries.
“I commend the initiative taken in creating such a forum where women leaders, when they manage to get to these high and important positions, have the possibility to exchange experiences, learn from and support one another,” said the President of Ethiopia in her letter of response.
President of Georgia expressed her readiness for active cooperation to strengthen the role of women in the world.
By joining the CWWL, the Presidents of Ethiopia and Georgia have expanded the unique network of current and former female heads of state up to 72 members.
