President Dalia Grybauskaitė
The President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė was elected the chair of the Council of Women World Leaders (CWWL) in New York, September 2014. The top priorities of the President are to further mobilize women heads of state for common tasks and encourage women around the world to assume positions of leadership and actively shape the future of their communities and countries.
President Dalia Grybauskaitė is the first woman to be elected the President of Lithuania (2009), and the first President to be re-elected for the second term (2014).
Prior to becoming the President Dalia Grybauskaitė served as the minister of finance (2001-2004). In 2004 she was appointed the EU commissioner for financial programming and budget. In 2013 President Dalia Grybauskaitė was awarded the prestigious International Charlemagne Prize for Lithuania’s contribution to uniting the European Union and building the economic stability of the whole Europe. President Dalia Grybauskaitė is a Doctor of Humane Letters, Honoris Cause at Georgetown University (United States).
