Gender inequality costs trillions to the world
President Dalia Grybauskaitė, who chairs the Council of Women World Leaders, held a high-level event on economic growth through women’s empowerment at the United Nations General Assembly.
The President encouraged women of the world
President Dalia Grybauskaitė, who chairs the Council of Women World Leaders, attends Women Political Leaders Global Summit “We Can Do It!” in Iceland. The conference that brings together over 300 women parliament members from almost 100 countries, including the Presidents of Estonia, Malta, and Croatia, focusses on ways to end violence against women and empower women to participate in politics and innovative economy.

Presidential Palace in orange – a signal to end violence against women
The Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania will shine in orange to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and to join the UN initiative “Orange the World”. Each year on this day, the world famous buildings lit in orange – La Scala theatre in Milan, Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio De Janeiro, parliaments and other buildings in a number countries. This is aimed at highlighting the global problem of violence against women.

The beginning of the 20th century was defined by brave women who claimed their right to vote. It is up to us to define the beginning of the 21st century as the new era with equal pay, freedom from violence and universal respect for women’s rights. The time is now.
