Press ReleasesDalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Lithuania’s first ambassador to IndiaMonday, February 8, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Petras Šimeliūnas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to the Republic of India.
According to Dalia Grybauskaitė, the appointment of Lithuania's first ambassador to India will promote closer cooperation between the two countries. She underlined that it was important for Lithuania to develop more intense economic diplomacy with India. The President wished Mr. Šimeliūnas every success in discharging the duties of his diplomatic mission.
Petras Šimeliūnas (50), started to work at the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry in 1995. From 2003, for four years, he served as Minister-Counselor at the Embassy of Lithuania in France. In 2007-2009, he was Director of the Export and Investments Promotion Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. Before his appointment to New Delhi, Petras Šimeliūnas served as Ambassador at Large for the Ministry's Latin America, Asia and Pacific Department. Press Service of the President |
